This is me in 1978. Parker - model's own.Ok, so this is the obligatory bit about me should you be so interested. That’s me on the left, circa 1978. In my mind, I’m still this age.

Most things like this about artists seem to begin with “I’ve been drawing ever since I picked up a pen at 3″ or something like that and yes, it’s true, I’ve always liked scribbling silly pictures but I never really thought I’d make a living from it. For a start, the guys who drew Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four and all stuff I devoured as a kid lived in America. Even then, Romita, Kirby, Adams and the like were so far ahead of what the 13-year old me could do as I stumbled around trying to draw Iron Man yet again, I could never see growing up to be a comics artist becoming a reality.

Eventually though, I realised I did have a sort-of leaning in the art direction and liked the design side as much as the drawing. I went to college, did a design course, still drew silly pictures and eventually ended up doing it as a job, first for magazines and now in the games industry (but not for Stan Lee). So far, I’ve been lucky enough to combine designing stuff with illustration and still pay the mortgage.

I’m happily married with the best wife and son ever and my copious spare time is usually split between co-running a little online toy shop – dinkybox, mucking about with old games consoles and even doing the odd drawing.

It’ll be interesting to see where it all goes from here.
