So, it's spring and I thought it was time I did a bit of a refresh to this site. Tidy the pages up a bit, add a few new (and old) items and do a new piece of artwork for the header; you know, that sort of thing.

If you remember some of the old magazines I used to work for you'll now find pics of all the covers to Anime UK, Super Play and N64 Magazine (for the time I was on them) on their own pages rather than just lumped together. Either follow the links here or roll over the 'The Art Crypt' tab above.

Please let me know what you think, if the site works ok for you and if there's anything else you'd like to see on here.

            Thanks!

Thank you so much for that gallery, Wil! I enjoyed reading the short reminiscences you appended to each image, as well; it's really helpful to have something to contextualise the covers and their respective issues!

I apologise for this sort of uninhibited statement, but I do wish you were doing the covers for NGamer, sir! Especially if the magazine was redesigned in the wake of Cafe arriving.

Well they only have to ask :) Wouldn't it be great to have a UK games mag called something like Super Cafe! The photo shoot possibilities are endless.

Thanks for the kind words about the gallery. I'll do my best to put up any other stuff I find and always put comments with them.

Can you imagine! My word, the very thought is something else! I'm hoping that someone out there is listening in, preparing this plan for action. (My personal hope would be that the figurative ears of NGamer should be perking around about now!)

Really looking forward to see whatever else you can find for the gallery! Please be assured that every bit of praise you receive is well deserved.

Ahhh Super Play, you were a thing of sheer beauty and Eastern mysticism every month. Glad to have collected nearly all issues :) Curious to know though Wil - which cover illustration is your favourite? For me it has to be either Issue 31 (Metal Gear) or the superb Mega Man X2 (issue 30).

I've always said that issue 30 was my favourite because I thought it worked as an overall cover (and we were allowed a 5th fluorescent colour - the pink on the text - which made it pop nicely) rather than me just being happy (or more usually, unhappy) with how the illo came out.

I do quite like issue 46's Mario if only because he actually looked a bit like Mario. The simplest looking characters are always the trickiest.

            Hi Wil

This is long overdue and a bit random, but I just wanted to say thanks for the huge part you played in the creation of Super Play.

I read that magazine religiously and still have every issue to this day. It's thanks to Super Play that I managed to play some of the finest games in existence, and it's fair to say I'd have probably never heard of half of them without it.

By the by, my favourite SP covers were 8 (love Twin Bee) and 24.

I recently wrote a lil piece trying to express my gratitude to Super Play:

            http://crystal-blue-dreams.blogspot.com/2011/08/super-playsuperest-of-them-all.html

Though reading over it again...it does seem a bit excessive!

Anyways, very best of luck with all your current and new projects, thanks once again for the great memories.

            Cheers

            Paul

Thanks for that Paul. Being able to do SP was a great privilege and the fact that it hit a chord with so many gamers over its time is a fantastic bonus.
